There's good reason why Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter called Mookie Betts one of the the best right fielders he's ever seen.
During the fourth inning of Friday's game, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones hit a ball that fell in between Betts and first baseman Mitch Moreland. The ball bounced off the ground and behind the tarp down the first base line. Betts then alertly picked the ball up from behind the tarp and fired a throw to nail Jones at second for the out.
The Orioles challenged the play, but replay officials deemed they couldn't definitively confirm whether the ball was lodged behind the tarp. If it had been, then the play would have been called a ground-rule double.
