Wolverhampton Wanderers have wrapped up the Championship title with two matches to spare.

Nuno Espirito Santo side's 30th victory of the season came at Bolton Wanderers, the Lancashire outfit in danger of relegation into League One. Like much of this campaign, it was straightforward stuff for Wolves as they romped to a 4-0 win in Horwich on Saturday.

Left-back Barry Douglas began the rout after 16 minutes, before Benik Afobe scored just before the break after rounding goalkeeper Ben Alnwick. Diogo Jota and Conor Coady extended Wolves' lead after the interval.

The manner of Wolves' promotion into the Premier League has courted controversy due to Jorge Mendes' relationship with the club's owners, and the subsequent arrival of some of the super-agent's clients, including Ruben Neves and Jota. They have been dominant in the second tier, urging rivals to accuse Wolves of unethical methods in the Molineux boardroom.

The Black Country revolution will now roll into the Premier League buoyed by silverware from the first-placed finish in the Championship, and with confidence taken from beating Stoke City, Liverpool, and Southampton in cup competitions over the past two seasons.

The final automatic promotion spot behind Wolves is a three-way battle between Fulham, Cardiff City, and Aston Villa.
