Cardinals' Pham left game after cutting head in batting cage
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham was removed from a game against the New York Mets on Wednesday because of a strange injury.
Pham was pulled from the contest in the third inning with what the Cardinals called an accidental head laceration.
"I'm good, other than the big welt on my forehead - it damaged my modeling career," Pham joked, per FOX Sports Midwest.
It turns out Pham cut his head after accidentally hitting himself while in the indoor batting cages, The Associated Press reports.
Tommy Pham injured himself in the batting cage in between innings, when a hitting contraption malfunctioned. He emerged with a gash across his right temple, and a jersey covered with blood. #STLCards

The 30-year-old Pham had just returned to the Cardinals' lineup Tuesday after missing a couple of games with a tight groin.
In 20 games, he's been one of his team's most productive players at the plate, hitting .348/.477/.522 with three home runs, seven RBIs, and 17 walks in 86 plate appearances.
