Tigers select Auburn ace Casey Mize with 1st overall pick
With the first overall pick in the 2018 MLB amateur draft, the Detroit Tigers selected Auburn right-hander Casey Mize.
"I can't describe this feeling," Mize said on MLB Network.
Mize joins Stephen Strasburg as the only college players to go first overall without being previously drafted out of high school.
It's just the third time that Auburn's had a player taken in the top 10. The others were Gregg Olson (1988) and Frank Thomas (1989).
