95-year-old Scottish man believed to be world's oldest rugby player
Easton Roy played for Scotland's Stirling County Rugby Football Club for 60 years before hanging up his boots in 2008 at the age of 85. To celebrate his 95th birthday, he ran back onto the field - and into the record books - during a charity match featuring club legends and current players.
Roy is believed to be the oldest rugby player in the world after taking part in Friday's match, according to BBC. Not only did he play the entire 40 minutes, but he scored the decisive try for his team and left some of the opposing players "battered and bruised."
"It was good fun. I was a bit apprehensive because I've not pulled on my boots for a good while, but I felt alright when I got out on the pitch," Roy said, adding, "I didn't feel the pain until after I sobered up."
He celebrated by taking a swig from a bottle of port.
Is 95 year old Easton Roy, the oldest player in the world still playing rugby?! #hero π
