Kerr: Rhythm, not injuries, ailing Curry's game

The Golden State Warriors did what they had to do to begin their series against the Houston Rockets, splitting the two games in Texas. However, there are concerns as the series moves to Oakland for Games 3 and 4.

After missing 22 of 23 contests with ankle and MCL injuries, Stephen Curry made a triumphant return in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the New Orleans Pelicans, scoring 28 points in 27 minutes. His strong play hasn't progressed into the Rockets series, however, as the sharpshooter has hit just two of his 13 attempts from deep.

"I think Steph's healthy," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said, per Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver. "He's moving fine but this is more rhythm than anything.

"You come back from six weeks in the regular season, chances are you're going to have a game where nobody is focused and the other team is playing their fourth (game) in five nights and the defense isn't that tough. In the playoffs - the analogy I would use relating baseball - you come back to the playoffs and you're facing the other teams best pitching night after night."

Curry has hit less than two 3-pointers just twice in 51 games this season. He played under three minutes in one of those appearances before suffering an ankle injury. He averaged 4.2 makes in 9.8 attempts from three over the campaign.

The two-time MVP is averaging 22 points, 5.7 boards, and 4.8 assists while shooting 36.2 percent from three in six playoff contests.
