Darren Till is as confident as ever heading into the biggest fight of his MMA career.

Despite his opponent Stephen Thompson having more than twice as many bouts in the UFC, the Liverpool native believes the 10-year gap between him and the veteran will give him an edge.

Till says when the two meet in his hometown next weekend, the crowd will be pleased with the result.

"I truly believe I'm going to stop him in the second - it wouldn't surprise me if the first. I truly believe I'm gonna stop Stephen Thompson," Till told MMAnytt's Jim Edwards on Friday. "He might say otherwise. He might say, you know, 'get off your high horse. You're only a kid. You're not experienced like I am.' He can say what he wants to say. I respect him ... He's a gentleman, but this is fucking fighting...

"There's no 35-year-old man out there who can fucking last more than three rounds with a guy like me right now."

Till has been out of action since last October when he delivered a first-round knockout to Donald Cerrone. Thompson, the UFC's top-ranked welterweight contender, is coming off a win over Jorge Masvidal after failing to earn the belt in two consecutive bouts against Tyron Woodley.

The two will meet in the main event of the UFC's first-ever event in Liverpool next Sunday.
