Former major-leaguer Dykstra charged with uttering threats, drug possession
Former Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra was arrested Wednesday morning in front of a police station in Linden, N.J.
Dykstra has been charged with uttering terroristic threats and multiple drug-related offenses, authorities told Jeff Goldman of NJ.com.
The 55-year-old was a passenger in an Uber vehicle and allegedly pulled out a gun, pointed it at the driver's head, and threatened to kill him after he turned down Dykstra's request to change destinations. The driver pulled into a parking garage near the police station, and honked his horn before reaching the station, according to police.
Police did not find a weapon when they arrested the former ballplayer but did find cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy on his person.
Dykstra was later released and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
It's not Dykstra's first brush with the law. He spent over six months in prison in 2013 after pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy property, and money laundering.
