Huddersfield picks up Juninho Bacuna from Groningen
London - Huddersfield Town have signed midfielder Juninho Bacuna from Dutch side FC Groningen for an undisclosed fee, the English Premier League club announced Wednesday.
The 20-year-old, a Netherlands Under-21 international, has agreed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire side that will run until 2021. The Terriers will then have the option to sign him for a further season.
Bacuna is the third new pre-season arrival at Huddersfield after they converted Terence Kongolo's season-long loan from Monaco into a permanent deal and signed Egypt winger Ramadan Sobhi from Stoke last week.
"I'm delighted that we've been able to bring Juninho in, especially before we report back as it allows him to have a full pre-season with the team," said Huddersfield manager David Wagner.
"He's a young, hungry player that has already played a lot of football for someone of his age and even if he's still very young, he strengthens our options in this position after we lost Dean Whitehead to retirement at the end of last season.
"He's an exciting midfielder that offers all the aggression of a defensive midfielder and the technical skills and mobility of an offensive midfielder."
