LiAngelo Ball was never considered a realistic NBA prospect, but some held out hope that his brother Lonzo's Los Angeles Lakers might offer him a Las Vegas Summer League invite.
That will not happen, the Lakers told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
The Lakers were "determined to make this a basketball decision," but a source told Shelburne that "obviously there's more to it than basketball." That's likely a reference to the Ball's omnipresent father LaVar.
LiAngelo had a pre-draft workout with the Lakers on May 29.
Summer league commences July 6 in Vegas. LaVar Ball's new Junior Basketball Association tipped off Thursday night in suburban Los Angeles to a sparse crowd.
