Raptors are betting favorite to land Kawhi from Spurs
The tides may have turned in the Toronto Raptors' favor, as MyBookie has tabbed Canada's lone NBA team as the heavy favorite to land Kawhi Leonard.
Initially, Toronto was hardly in the conversation as a potential trade destination for the San Antonio Spurs star. However, a report from the Washington Post's Tim Bontemps has put the team squarely into the discussion, with MyBookie placing its odds at landing the forward at even.
This in no way suggests that the Raptors have become a realistic destination for Leonard.
It doesn't help that the 27-year-old reportedly has no interest in re-signing with any team in the Eastern Conference, besides the Philadelphia 76ers, when he becomes a free agent next summer, ESPN's Chris Haynes said on "The Jump."
However, after getting swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs last season, it would be a bold move for the Raptors to land one of the league's best players. It could cost them either Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan in the process, but it's certainly an easy path to get people speaking favorably about Toronto again - especially in the LeBron-less East.
