McGee: Lakers will be 'one of the most fun teams ever'
For some Los Angeles Lakers, the bevy of larger-than-life personalities is being viewed as a positive feature of this new-look roster.
"Man, it's going to be amazing," veteran center, and two-time NBA champion, JaVale McGee told ESPN's Arash Markazi. "You got so many personalities in this locker room but I feel like it's all going to mesh together and it's going to be one of the most fun teams ever."
While LeBron James is the crown jewel of the Lakers' free-agency spree, team president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka managed to bring on several of the league's resident anarchists - the sort of players one might see blowing in an opponent's ear during a stoppage in play, picking fights with much larger combatants, or being a noted recurring star on Shaqtin' a Fool.
Those players will join an organization that already features a collection of young talent, including the faux-feuding Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball (not to mention Ball's father, LaVar), a gregarious young coach in Luke Walton, a passionate and accessible owner in Jeannie Buss, and perhaps the most charismatic figure in basketball history in Magic himself.
Continuing to double down on the chaos, the Lakers' most recent move was the addition of the self-proclaimed "walking bucket," Michael Beasley, who previously played with James on the Miami Heat. Beasley has a fan in McGee.
"He's going to have a huge impact on the team," claims McGee. "He's a long guy and a pure scorer and he's a great guy. I'm actually good friends with Michael Beasley and the fact that he's coming now, this season is going to be amazing."
