LeBron receives adulation from Twitter for opening 'I Promise School'
LeBron James views the opening of the I Promise School for at-risk children in Akron, Ohio as one of the greatest accomplishments of his life, right up there with marrying his wife, having his children, and taking care of his mother.
The institute will provide a litany of tools and aid to assist the 240 third- and fourth-graders who attend, including free meals, uniforms, and even tuition to graduates.
It's truly a landmark moment for one of the biggest sports stars on the planet, and someone who not long ago was encouraged to just "shut up and dribble."
Former First Lady Michelle Obama, UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, and several of James' peers from around the Association are among those taking to social media to applaud him for helping his hometown.
.@BarackObama and I are so proud of @KingJames and @IPROMISESchool. Kids in Akron and across the US are lucky to have you as a role model on and off the court. Keep using your platform for good and giving our kids a chance to shoot for the stars. 🌟🏀 #ReachHigher #BetterMakeRoom pic.twitter.com/hyS6UM2A7b
