Browns trade Corey Coleman to Bills
The Cleveland Browns have traded 2016 first-round pick Corey Coleman to the Buffalo Bills, the Browns announced on Sunday.
Bills GM Brandon Brane confirmed that Coleman was shipped off for a seventh-round pick in 2020.
Buffalo desperately needed more pass-catching talent, as Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, and Jeremy Kerley sat atop the team's wide receiver depth chart prior to the trade.
Meanwhile, Cleveland is giving up on Coleman after just two seasons in which he appeared in 19 games, catching 56 passes for 718 yards and five touchdowns. He missed significant time in each of his first two campaigns due to hand injuries.
Coleman was lauded for his game-breaking speed coming out of Baylor, but he didn't become a consistent deep threat in Cleveland, averaging only 12.8 yards per catch.
However, considering Buffalo's lack of established playmakers, the 24-year-old will likely fight for a starting job on his new team.
Cleveland will go into the 2018 season with Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon as its top two targets. Gordon has been receiving counseling and away from the team since the start of training camp, but he's reportedly "getting closer to returning."
