Report: Raptors agree to deal with Monroe
The man nicknamed "Moose" is heading north.
Greg Monroe and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a one-year, $2.2-million deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.
Toronto has had reported interest in the reserve center for some time. Monroe, who was a part of the Boston Celtics' postseason run last year, will now join another contender in the East at the veteran's minimum.
While the 28-year-old doesn't bring much to the table defensively, he adds instant offense off the bench as a talented low-post scorer. He's also an accomplished rebounder and a solid piece to fill out the end of the Raptors' roster.
Monroe started last year with the Milwaukee Bucks, eventually falling out of the rotation and making stops with the Phoenix Suns and Celtics.
Playing for all three teams, he averaged 10.3 points and 6.9 rebounds on 56.5 percent shooting in 51 games last season.
