The New England Patriots released wide receiver Kenny Britt, the team announced Wednesday.
He signed a two-year deal with the club back in December.
The former first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans spent last season split between the Patriots and the Cleveland Browns, catching 20 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. The Rutgers star was coming off a career-best 1,002-yard campaign in 2016 before he inked a four-year deal with the Browns, but was cut less than one season into the pact.
With Britt out of the picture, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson, Phillip Dorsett, and Eric Decker will likely make up New England's WR corps until Julian Edelman returns from his four-game suspension.
