Eagles' Pederson: Wentz not yet cleared for contact
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz hasn't been cleared for contact yet as his recovery from a torn ACL continues, head coach Doug Pederson said Sunday.
Pederson appears to be growing tired of speaking about Wentz's status.
"I don't know how many times I can answer this question," Pederson said via ESPN's Tim McManus. "When they clear him, he'll be cleared. I'm not going to put myself in a box, I'm not going to put my quarterback in a box. I'm not going to do that. And I'm not going to go on a limb and I'm not going to say that. So either ask it a different way or otherwise you're going to get the same answer."
Wentz was given the green light to begin participating in 11-on-11 drills a week ago, which marked another step forward in his rehab. He's been splitting first-team reps in practice with Nick Foles.
Foles is expected to start in place of Wentz, but he's looked shaky throughout the preseason.
The Eagles are slated to kick off the regular season Sept. 6 versus the Atlanta Falcons.
