A surprise phone call has Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay hopeful that the end to Aaron Donald's holdout is near.

McVay, general manager Les Snead, and chief operating officer Kevin Demoff spoke at a charity luncheon Wednesday, fielding questions from interested fans awaiting Donald's every move.

Demoff received a call from Donald's agent during the event and eventually stepped out of the room, sending McVay into a frenzy minutes later.

"Where’s Demoff at?! Did he get Aaron done?!?!? I think we are close, I think we're very close to getting this thing done," McVay said, according to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.

Donald, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, is imperative to the Rams' Super Bowl ambitions. With the season quickly approaching, McVay, Snead, and Demoff are working furiously to lock him up and get him on the field.
