Report: Knicks will part ways with Noah before season
Joakim Noah's disastrous tenure in New York could be coming to an end.
The Knicks are expected to part ways with the disgruntled center ahead of training camp, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
New York has reportedly explored trade options, but has also considered waiving Noah and using the stretch provision on the remaining two years of his four-year, $72.5-million contract, Charania added.
Noah, now 33, cashed in during the high-spending summer of 2016 when Phil Jackson was running the Knicks' front office.
After playing in 46 games during 2016-17, Noah appeared in just seven last season, and he took a leave of absence following a reported physical altercation at practice with now-former head coach Jeff Hornacek.
With the Knicks hoping to make a free-agent splash next summer, releasing Noah would open up cap space, as well as clear the way for young bigs Noah Vonleh and Mitchell Robinson to get more playing time.
In 53 games with the franchise, Noah averaged 4.6 points and 7.9 rebounds on 49 percent shooting from the field.
