Report: Steelers want 2nd-round pick, quality player in Bell trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers have asked teams for a second-round draft pick plus a quality player in trade talks revolving around All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Steelers reportedly began listening to trade offers last week, but are now the ones initiating calls with other teams in an effort to move Bell, according to Rapoport.

Though some teams have inquired about Bell, trade talks haven't advanced to a serious stage, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bell has yet to sign his one-year franchise tender, and in turn has yet to play a snap this season. The 26-year-old hasn't said when he plans to finally report to the Steelers, but it seems he's doing everything in his power to be healthy before free agency in March.

A trade for Bell could prove difficult to consummate, as the team acquiring him from Pittsburgh wouldn't be allowed to negotiate a long-term deal before the end of the season, per the franchise tag rules.

Furthermore, the Steelers would receive a future compensatory third-round pick if they let Bell walk away as a free agent, so their asking price is unlikely to come down much.

Bell made three Pro Bowls and was twice named a first-team All-Pro over his first five seasons in Pittsburgh. He's widely regarded as the best all-around running back in the NFL.
