The New York Giants will release offensive tackle Ereck Flowers if they're unable to trade him before Tuesday's transactions deadline, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Any team that trades for the 24-year-old will inherit his guaranteed $2.39 million 2018 base salary, Schefter added.
New York benched the former first-round pick prior to Week 3. He struggled mightily during the first two games of the season and was replaced by Chad Wheeler.
One of the biggest draft busts in recent memory, the towering lineman has been a disappointment since the Giants drafted him with the No. 9 pick in 2015.
Flowers started all but two games at left tackle between 2015 and 2017 before being moved to right tackle this summer.
