Report: Mets, Yankees interested in Andrew Miller
The New York Mets are reportedly showing interest in left-handed reliever Andrew Miller, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Across the city, the New York Yankees are also showing some preliminary interest in Miller, according to Andy Martino of SNY.
Miller, 33, is coming off a four-year, $36-million deal originally signed by the Yankees before the 2015 season. The Yankees wound up trading the fireman to the Cleveland Indians in 2016 for a package that included outfielder Clint Frazier and pitching prospect Justus Sheffield.
Over three seasons with Cleveland, Miller authored a 2.22 ERA and 2.30 FIP in 125 2/3 innings of work. The southpaw had a close relationship with Mets manager Mickey Callaway when he served as the Indians' pitching coach, according to Morosi.
Miller is a top reliever on the free-agent market, alongside Craig Kimbrel, Adam Ottavino, and Zach Britton. The 33-year-old is coming off an injury-hobbled season, where knee troubles held him to 34 innings - his fewest since 2013.
