Jets' Darnold out of walking boot, not yet cleared for practice
Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold wasn't able to participate Monday in the New York Jets' first practice following their bye week, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Darnold missed the team's Week 10 loss to the Buffalo Bills due to a foot injury, but he's ditched his walking boot following the extra week of rest and has started jogging.
"It feels good. It feels great," said Darnold. "Nothing for me to complain about. No pain, either."
Head coach Todd Bowles described his quarterback as "day to day, week to week" and said it was too soon to tell if Darnold will be able to practice Wednesday. The Jets square off against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has completed 55 percent of his pass attempts this season for 1,934 yards and 11 touchdowns through nine games. He leads the league with 14 interceptions.
Veteran Josh McCown received the start in Week 10. In his first action this season, he completed just 17 of 34 attempts for 135 yards and two interceptions without a touchdown as the Jets were blown out 41-10.
