Tom Brady sat out the start of the New England Patriots' final practice of the week due to a knee injury, according to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, indicating that he'll miss the entire session.

The star quarterback was limited on Wednesday and Thursday before missing his first practice of the season, leaving backup Brian Hoyer to run the first-team offense.

Brady appeared to be moving with ease on Wednesday, so his absence Friday causes concern for the AFC East leaders ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

The 41-year-old suffered the injury while attempting to catch a pass against the Tennessee Titans in Week 10. But as of Wednesday, the Patriots weren't concerned about his Week 12 status, a source told Michael Giardi of NFL Network.

Brady hasn't missed a start due to injury since being sidelined for nearly the entire 2008 season.
