Jaguars' Fournette suspended 1 game for role in fight
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette has been suspended one game for his actions during Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, the league announced.
Fournette left the sideline to enter a fray and threw a punch at Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson. He was officially disciplined for "violations of unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness."
Fournette will miss Jacksonville's Week 13 contest against the Indianapolis Colts.
"Video of the incident shows that you were not a participant in the play and that you ran from your sideline to the opposite side of the field to insert yourself as an active participant in a fight. Once you entered the fight area, you struck a member of the opposing team. Your actions adversely reflected on the NFL and have no place in the game," NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote in his ruling.
Fournette has three days to file an appeal.
Barring a successful appeal, next week's game will be the 10th Fournette has missed since being selected fourth overall in the 2017 draft.
