LeBron: It 'would be amazing' if Davis joined Lakers
The Lakers announced their return as one of the NBA's elite franchises when they signed LeBron James this past offseason, and their superstar forward is already envisioning how it'd feel to play alongside another of the league's preeminent talents in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, he pondered a future in which New Orleans Pelicans All-NBA big man Anthony Davis was a member of the Lakers.
"That would be amazing," James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin before Tuesday's 115-110 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. "That would be amazing, like, duh. That would be incredible."
Davis is under contract for two more seasons after the current campaign, though he can decline his player option for 2020-21 and test free agency as early as the summer of 2020.
With the Pelicans advancing to the postseason just twice in Davis' first six seasons, some expect the team to consider trading its franchise superstar rather than run the risk that he leaves in free agency.
Davis is represented by James' longtime agent, Klutch Sports' Rich Paul.
