Report: Phillies have visions of signing Harper, Keuchel, Kimbrel
The Philadelphia Phillies want to build a super team.
According to team executives, the club has visions of signing Bryce Harper, Dallas Keuchel, and Craig Kimbrel, reports Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.
The Phillies have been linked to all three of the players throughout the offseason and are open-minded about spending money.
The team's front office recently met with Harper in Las Vegas and are reportedly the clear-cut favorites to sign the 2015 National League MVP.
Philadelphia might have competition from the Washington Nationals, though. Harper's former team's latest offer is worth "much more" than $300 million, according to a report.
Both Keuchel and Kimbrel are seeking long-term deals as well, with Kimbrel reportedly searching for a contract exceeding $100 million.
It's unknown how much the Phillies are willing to spend on the pair, but their front office reportedly isn't willing to give Keuchel the five-year deal he's looking for.
Meanwhile, Kimbrel's market has been quiet this offseason. While a reunion in Boston is possible for the All-Star closer, Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski doesn't anticipate spending large on a closer.
The Phillies, who finished third in the NL East last season at 80-82, have already traded for shortstop Jean Segura and spent $73 million to acquire Andrew McCutchen and David Robertson.
