Report: Davis prefers trade to Lakers, won't re-sign with other teams
Anthony Davis reportedly plans on taking his talents to Hollywood - either now or in 2020.
Davis and his agent, Rich Paul, are expected to make it known that the five-time All-Star intends to join the Los Angeles Lakers upon the conclusion of his current contract in 2020, and won't sign an extension if acquired by another team beforehand, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Paul, who also represents Lakers superstar LeBron James, announced Monday that Davis would like to be traded and won't sign a long-term extension to remain with the New Orleans Pelicans.
However, Paul hasn't pressured the Pelicans to move Davis by the Feb. 7 trade deadline, and the team won't trade its superstar unless it receives a significant offer, according to Wojnarowski.
The Pelicans will reportedly ask for at least Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, and a first-round pick from the Lakers in any deal for Davis.
Additionally, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge remains set on acquiring Davis even without assurances that the former No. 1 overall pick would re-sign in Boston, according to Wojnarowski. However, the Celtics can't officially trade for Davis until July 1 due to constraints in the NBA's salary rules.
