Olympic officials recommend adding break dancing to 2024 games
Break dancing is one step closer to becoming an Olympic sport.
The International Olympic Committee's executive board decided on Tuesday to recommend adding break dancing to the program for the 2024 games in Paris, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.
The committee also recommended including skateboarding, sports climbing, and surfing, all of which have been approved for the 2020 Olympics.
"They contribute to make the program of the games more gender-balanced, more youthful and more urban," IOC President Thomas Bach said. "These four sports also offer the opportunity to connect with the young generation there."
Bach added that IOC officials will monitor the four proposed sports through 2020 "to see how they perform, to see how they manage their sport, to look at the governance, to look at the integrity of their competitions, to look at the referring and judging system and so on."
