Chiefs tell Hill to stay away from team amid troubling audio clips

The Kansas City Chiefs have told Pro Bowl wideout Tyreek Hill not to participate in team activities until the organization learns more about the troubling audio recordings involving him that emerged Thursday.

In the clips, Hill's fiancee asked him why their three-year-old son said "Daddy did it" in reference to an incident that left him with a serious arm injury. In response to her notion that their child fears him, Hill told her, "You need to be terrified of me, too, bitch."

"As soon as the draft concluded, after the last pick, I had the chance to call (Hill's agent) Drew Rosenhaus and we decided that at this time and for the foreseeable future, Tyreek Hill will not take part in any team activities," general manager Brett Veach told reporters, according to Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports.

Hill and his fiancee, Crystal Espinal, were both investigated for child abuse. District attorney Stephen Howe said Wednesday charges would not be filed, citing a lack of evidence over who committed the act. However, Howe stated he believed a crime did occur.

The recordings were given to KCTV, a local TV station, from a friend of Espinal's. Espinal had given her friend the tapes as an "insurance policy," but they were not previously sent to police.

"We were deeply disturbed by what we heard," Veach said of the audio, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.

In the clips, Hill denied breaking his son's arm.

In a statement released on Friday, the Chiefs said they were not previously aware of the audio recordings and are gathering more information.

Hill has been one of the game's most prolific receivers over the last two years. He finished fourth in receiving last season with 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns.
