New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones is bringing the "Mamba Mentality" with him to the NFL.
At the Giants' rookie minicamp Friday, Jones was asked why he chose No. 8 over the other jersey options presented to him.
"Old Kobe, I guess," he said, referring to Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
Daniel Jones said it’s hard “to be completely unaware” of the reaction to his being picked 6th overall. He thinks what Peyton Manning told him before the draft is still applicable. It’s his job to prove them right or wrong. #giants pic.twitter.com/oOvljHZMa9

Bryant wore No. 8 for the first 10 years of his NBA career before switching to No. 24 at the start of the 2006-07 season.
