Arenas shares backstory behind Matt Barnes confronting Derek Fisher
Former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas says he received a phone call from Matt Barnes when the latter was en route to confront Derek Fisher about dating Gloria Govan, Barnes' ex-wife, in 2015.
Arenas provided some details about the infamous altercation during an interview with Sports Illustrated TV, explaining that he tried to talk Barnes out of driving from Santa Barbara, Calif. to Govan's house in Los Angeles.
"'Wait a minute, why is Derek Fisher here? It's training camp, doesn't he coach for New York?'" Arenas recalled asking Barnes. "He said, 'I don't know why he's here. God must've (brought) him here so I could whoop his ass.'"
