Klay exits Game 2 with hamstring tightness, doesn't expect to miss time
Klay Thompson is the latest Golden State Warriors player to be bitten by the injury bug.
The 29-year-old was ruled out of Golden State's Game 2 victory against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday with left hamstring tightness after landing awkwardly on a 3-point attempt early in the fourth quarter.
Set to undergo an MRI on Monday, Thompson did his best to dispel any fears about the injury postgame.
"No, I don't see myself missing Game 3," Thompson told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is taking more of a wait-and-see approach.
"Klay said he'll be fine, but Klay can be half-dead and he'd say he's (fine). We'll see," said Kerr, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. "He pulled his hamstring; he thinks it's minor - I don't know what that means going forward."
Thompson scored a team-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting with four 3-pointers in 32 minutes of action prior to exiting. He added five rebounds and five assists.
Golden State rode an 18-0 run in the third quarter and held on for a narrow 109-104 victory at Scotiabank Arena to lock the NBA Finals at 1-1. Despite his ailing hamstring, Thompson was present to greet his teammates as they exited the floor.
The series now shifts to Oracle Arena for Game 3 on Wednesday night.
