Report: Bale will stay at Real Madrid after move to China falls through
Gareth Bale is staying at Real Madrid after his move to the Chinese Super League fell through, BBC Sport's David Ornstein reports.
Real Madrid called the deal off, Ornstein adds.
The 30-year-old's move to China was considered imminent, with reports suggesting he was going to join Jiangsu Suning on a three-year contract and earn over £1 million per week.
But the Real Madrid board decided the transfer fee for Bale was below the club's valuation, according to Paul MacInnes of The Guardian.
Bale, who joined the Spanish side from Tottenham in 2013 for £85 million, has three years remaining on his contract.
The winger was tipped to leave Los Blancos after falling out with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
While addressing why Bale was left out of a friendly against Bayern Munich earlier this month, Zidane said the Welsh star was absent because Real Madrid was "working on his departure," and the team hoped a deal could be reached "soon."
Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, responded to Zidane by calling the Frenchman a "disgrace" for attempting to engineer his client's departure in public.
Bale played a pivotal role while helping Real Madrid win the Champions League in 2018 when his brace against Liverpool led the club to its third straight title and fourth in five years.
