Jones convinced Cowboys will reach deals with offensive stars

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't seem worried about the fact that several players on his team are looking for long-term extensions.

Jones said there are no "specific" updates on potential deals with quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, or receiver Amari Cooper, but he did reveal he's negotiating with seven or eight players. The 76-year-old believes the team will eventually reach agreements with the offensive trio.

"Just know that like so many things, it'll happen. It'll happen," Jones said Saturday, according to NFL.com's Adam Maya. "There literally is no concern on my part at all about any time frame. That'll happen. The results are too good for them and too good for the Cowboys. Think about it now. The results are too good for them and too good for the Cowboys. That always happens when it's that good for both of us."

Both Prescott and Cooper are attending training camp while Elliott remains away from the team as his holdout continues. The quarterback said he's in regular contact with his running back, though they haven't discussed their respective contract situations.

"Friendship is friendship and business is business. You don't cross those," Prescott said. "I've talked to him. We've communicated. As I said, obviously we miss the player that he is but I know that he's getting better. I know that he's working on his game, he's in shape. He's going to make sure that he comes back, and when he's back on this team he's a better player than before camp, or before the spring. He's a good friend. Obviously we want him out here, but that's business."

Jones said on Thursday that there's no deadline for when an extension for Elliot could be agreed upon, and he seemed to also send a message to the 24-year-old earlier in the week when he said NFL teams don't need a "rushing champion to win a Super Bowl."

Cornerback Byron Jones and linebacker Jaylon Smith are also in contention for long-term agreements.
