Report: Pistons agree to 1-year deal with Beasley

The Detroit Pistons have agreed to a one-year deal with forward Michael Beasley, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

If he remains with the team into the regular season, Beasley will reportedly be forced to sit the first five games of the campaign. He received a suspension on Thursday for violating the league's anti-drug policy last fall while away from the Los Angeles Lakers to be with his late mother, who was then battling cancer.

The 30-year-old most recently played in China for the Guangdong Southern Tigers after opening the 2018-19 season in the NBA with the Lakers. The franchise traded him in February to the Los Angeles Clippers, and he was waived before playing a game for his new team.

Beasley is believed to have turned down an offer in China worth approximately $5 million to return to the NBA, according to Stadium's Jeff Goodman.

The 11-year veteran averaged seven points and 2.3 rebounds over 26 games with Los Angeles last season. He's averaged 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks throughout his career.

The move will pair the top two selections in the 2008 draft in Detroit. Beasley, the No. 2 pick, will be joined in the Motor City by Derrick Rose, who signed a reported two-year deal with the Pistons in June.
