Report: Texans discussed potential Clowney trade with several teams
It appears the Houston Texans have engaged with more teams than originally thought regarding a potential Jadeveon Clowney trade.
Though the Texans' most significant discussions have been with the Miami Dolphins, they've also recently spoken with the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and Washington Redskins to float a potential deal for the unsigned pass-rusher, sources told Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Talks have not advanced with any teams besides Miami, Wilson adds. Clowney has reportedly already met with Dolphins head coach Brian Flores amid speculation he could be dealt. The former No. 1 overall pick is understood to be willing to continue his holdout into the regular season and is frustrated with Houston for entertaining trade offers.
Clowney cannot be traded without first signing his one-year franchise tender worth $15.9 million and is unable to sign a multi-year contract with any club this season, including the Texans.
The 26-year-old has been away from Houston all summer. It was initially reported he would rejoin the team following its third preseason game.
