Report: Ramsey tells Jaguars he's sick, may not practice at all this week
Amid heavy trade speculation, disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey called the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday night to inform them he'd be unable to practice Monday due to illness, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Ramsey believes he has the flu and may not practice at all this week, sources told Schefter. He played in last Thursday's win over the Tennessee Titans despite his desire to be moved.
"I'm not getting into that," head coach Doug Marrone said Monday when asked if he found the timing of Ramsey's sickness odd, according to NFL Network's James Palmer. "I don't know anything. If you're sick, you're sick - what are you going to do?"
The 24-year-old requested a trade after Jacksonville's Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans. Ramsey said he made the request after "some disrespectful things were said" about him during a conversation with members of Jacksonville's front office.
Ramsey remains resolute in his desire to be dealt, though the Jaguars want to keep him, which could lead to a standoff. Team owner Shad Khan is reportedly at the forefront of the decision to at least attempt to keep the star defensive back.
