Report: Stafford dealing with back injury, not hip issue
The Detroit Lions listed Matthew Stafford as questionable for Week 4 with a hip injury, but the quarterback is actually working through a back issue, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano.
Stafford has battled back problems previously, and the injury flared up again this week, Graziano adds. He appears likely to play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Lions will continue to monitor him over the weekend.
The 31-year-old was a limited participant in Friday's practice, but he didn't appear on Detroit's injury report before then.
Stafford didn't miss any games while dealing with a back ailment last season.
The veteran has completed 62% of his pass attempts this season for 831 yards, with six touchdowns and two interceptions. He hasn't been sacked since Week 1.
