We're back to highlight the best betting trends and angles. Last week, Pat Shurmur continued his "under" run with the Giants, while the Packers and Raiders bucked trends as underdogs.
Here are some of the more notable trends to watch for games in Week 6.
(Trends are from Sports Database unless noted otherwise.)
New York Giants at New England Patriots
Line: Patriots -17
Nervous about laying so many points on the Pats? Well, the trends suggest you shouldn't be. Bill Belichick is 18-7 against the spread (72%) and 25-0 straight-up when his team gives 14-to-21 points, with an 11-1 ATS record since 2015. Double-digit favorites on Thursday games are also 18-7-1 ATS (72%) since 1989.
Trend play: Patriots -17
Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings
Total: 44
The under is 4-1 in the Vikings' five games this season - tied for the second-most of any team - and is a strong candidate again this week. With Mike Zimmer as head coach, Minnesota is 13-4-1 (76.5%) to the under after a road win and 22-10 (68.8%) to the under when returning home after an away contest. Two strong defenses also signal the under here; since 2015, the under is 22-14-4 (61.1%) when opposing teams allow 10 or fewer points in their previous game, including a 10-4 run since the start of last season.
Trend play: Under 44
Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs
Line: Chiefs -5
The Texans showed just how explosive they can be by dropping 53 points on the Atlanta Falcons. But what about a hangover effect? Since 2011, teams that score at least 52 points are 8-14-1 ATS (36.4%) in their next game, including 3-7-1 ATS (30%) as an underdog. Houston coach Bill O'Brien is also 8-13 ATS (40%) and 3-18 SU (14.3%) as a road 'dog of at least four points.
Trend play: Chiefs -5
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
Line: Packers -5
There are easier ways to make money than by betting against Aaron Rodgers in Lambeau Field. The Packers quarterback is 50-31-1 ATS (61.7%) in his career as a home favorite and a scorching 21-9-1 ATS (70%) as home chalk against division opponents. Matthew Stafford, on the other hand, is 5-10-1 ATS (33.3%) as a road 'dog against the NFC North.
Trend play: Packers -5
