The banner was the result of a fundraising effort organized by a group of Jets fans working under the umbrella of New York Sports Fan Media, according to Kristian Dyer of Sports Illustrated, who added that the group plans to stage more protests in the coming weeks.
A blog post on the New York Sports Fan Media website states that the "Fire Adam Gase" movement is "about holding ownership accountable for their actions over the past decade." Nearly $3,000 had been raised through the group's GoFundMe page as of Friday afternoon.
The Jets are currently tied with the Miami Dolphins for the worst record in the AFC East at 1-7.
