Docuseries about Donald Sterling scandal in the works

The scandal surrounding former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is being turned into a documentary series.

Upcoming mobile video platform Quibi has acquired "Blackballed," which will delve into the five-day period during the 2014 NBA playoffs that ended with Sterling receiving a lifetime ban from the league, according to Natalie Jarvey of The Hollywood Reporter. Doc Rivers, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, and JJ Redick are expected to be among those interviewed for the series.

"The Sterling scandal was so much more than a leaked tape. This series will offer a first-person retelling of the heightened drama and raw emotion surrounding a pivotal moment in sports history," said director Michael Jacobs.

The NBA banned Sterling in April 2014 after an audio recording of him making racist remarks surfaced. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer subsequently bought the Clippers for $2 billion.
