Man arrested for pulling facemask off Joe Montana statue
A Santa Clara man has been charged with felony vandalism after he allegedly pulled the face mask off a statue of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, Mike Moffitt of SFGATE reported.
A security guard witnessed the suspect, 37-year-old Jorge Alberto Lopez, commit the act of vandalism following the 49ers' loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, Santa Clara police said. Lopez was arrested and booked into Santa Clara Jail.
"It was an intentional act on his part to grab the facemask and pull on it until it broke," Santa Clara police captain Wahid Kazem said Wednesday.
