Doncic sprains ankle in loss to Heat
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic left Saturday's loss to the Miami Heat after suffering a right ankle sprain, the team announced. He didn't return to the game.
X-rays on Doncic's ankle came back negative. Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said he didn't expect Doncic to play Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
The 20-year-old phenom collapsed to the floor in the opening minutes of the game after rolling his ankle on Heat guard Kendrick Nunn's foot while driving to the basket.
Doncic hopped off the court and went directly to the Mavericks' locker room. Carlisle added postgame that Doncic was able to put weight on his injured leg.
The Slovenian exited the contest with two points and one rebound.
Doncic's streak of consecutive games with at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists came to an end at 20. It winds up as the third-longest streak in NBA history. Oscar Robertson had runs of 29 and 25 games.
