If you bet the Oklahoma City Thunder's regular-season win total over, the Golden State Warriors' under, or the Memphis Grizzlies' over, congratulations: You officially don't have to watch the second half of the NBA season.
Despite shipping out Russell Westbrook and Paul George in the offseason, the 33-22 Thunder have already surpassed their total of 32.5. The same goes for Memphis, which is already over 26.5 wins at 28-26 while sitting in the Western Conference's No. 8 seed. The Warriors? They're the worst team in the league and would need another season (or two) to go over their total of 48.5.
Moving forward, every team is still fair game in a new market with updated numbers. Here's how each squad stands with the second half of the season set to begin Thursday.

To get a feel for which teams have played better or worse than their current records, let's look at expected win-loss marks through the first half of the season and compare them to the actual standings.
Below, we outline the biggest disparities.
The overperformers
Team | Win-Loss | Expected Win-Loss |
---|---|---|
Denver | 38-17 | 35-20 |
Memphis | 28-26 | 24-30 |
New York | 17-38 | 14-41 |

Phoenix | 22-33 | 25-30 |
Minnesota | 16-37 | 20-33 |
Detroit | 19-38 | 23-34 |
Next, let's see which teams will play the easiest and toughest schedules down the stretch, which are based on opponents' combined winning percentage to date.
Top 5 easiest remaining schedules
Team | SOS% |
---|---|
New Orleans | .449 |
Philadelphia | .455 |
Orlando | .464 |
Atlanta | .465 |
Miami | .466 |
Top 5 toughest remaining schedules
Team | SOS% |
---|---|
Memphis | .554 |
Detroit | .546 |
Golden State | .538 |
Washington | .531 |
Milwaukee | .526 |
Memphis makes sense as a team to go under on. The Grizzlies have a clear disparity in their win-loss and expected win-loss records, and they're also facing the toughest remaining schedule. This is an ideal spot to middle if you already cashed the over.
New Orleans is one of the franchises outside the playoff picture that won't tank. Rookie phenom Zion Williamson has injected life into a club that's been two wins better than its actual record and will face the easiest schedule in the second half. The Pelicans need to go 16-11 down the stretch to cash their updated total, but they have a couple of gimmes and multiple games against the Timberwolves, Hawks, Kings, and Wizards.
Washington's only three games out of a playoff spot but is probably cooked. The Wizards are a projected 19-win team and still have to play Milwaukee three times, Philadelphia twice, and each of the Lakers, Celtics, Raptors, Jazz, Heat, and Rockets.
