Roush Fenway Racing released a statement Tuesday regarding the well-being of Ryan Newman, who was involved in a horrifying crash during the final lap of the Daytona 500 on Monday.
Newman "remains under the care of doctors" in Daytona Beach but "is awake and speaking with family and doctors," the release states.

Newman was pushed by Ryan Blaney and sent sideways into the wall in front of eventual winner Denny Hamlin during the last lap of the Daytona 500, which was already in overtime due to multiple crashes causing caution flags. After colliding with the wall, Newman's car tipped over and barrel-rolled before getting T-boned while upside down and eventually catching fire.

Newman was rushed to the hospital immediately after the crash where his injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening.
