DeMarcus Cousins: Julio Jones dunk in HS 'craziest' I've ever seen
Free-agent center DeMarcus Cousins has spent more than a decade in the NBA but says the most impressive dunk he's ever witnessed occurred during a high school basketball game involving future Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones.
Cousins was competing against the Cleveland Cavaliers' Andre Drummond in the NBA 2K Players Tournament on Sunday night when he was asked to identify the "craziest dunk" he's seen. He then shared a story about Jones dunking on one of his teammates at LeFlore High School in Alabama.
"That's by far the craziest dunk I've ever seen," Cousins said. "And it was a tip dunk. ... It was sick. I'mma say it took about 15, 20 minutes to get the game started back. They rushed the floor. It was crazy. It was a home game for us, too. They rushed the floor. I mean, Julio, Julio's the man."
While Cousins hasn't been able to find footage of the dunk, there is audio of it. Todd Watson, who did play-by-play for Jones' Foley High School basketball team, spoke about the dunk in a 2017 interview with Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report.
"I don't know where the heck he came from," Stewart said of Jones. "He came from outer space. It was unbelievable. ... Julio was like Superman. You expected to see a big 'S' on his shirt."
