The PGA Tour intends to resume the 2019-20 season with the Charles Schwab Challenge on June 11, it announced Thursday.
The Tour also laid out the schedule for the remainder of the season and the fall portion of the 2020-21 campaign. The plan is to proceed without spectators for the first four events.
"The health and safety of all associated with the PGA Tour and our global community continues to be our No. 1 priority, and our hope is to play a role - responsibly - in the world's return to enjoying the things we love," PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said. "Today's announcement is another positive step for our fans and players as we look toward the future."
There will be 14 tournaments played once the 2019-20 season resumes, concluding with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club over Labor Day weekend.
Monahan admitted, though, that the ultimate decision to return will be out of his hands.
"We will resume competition only when - working closely with our tournaments, partners, and communities - it is considered safe to do so under the guidance of the leading public health authorities," he said.
The RBC Canadian Open was canceled as part of the reshuffled schedule. It was originally slated to start June 11. However, the RBC Heritage, which was previously canceled, was brought back into the fold and is slotted for the week ending on June 21.
The Barbasol Championship - an opposite-field event to the Open Championship - was also canceled.
Additionally, the Tour expanded the field sizes of the Charles Schwab Challenge, RBC Heritage, and the Memorial Tournament to 144 players in an effort to provide additional opportunities during the shortened season, which was halted on March 12 at The Players Championship.
The 2020-21 season will begin at the Safeway Open in Napa, California, following the week of the Tour Championship, which was announced Wednesday.
