UEFA is working on a proposal to hold the Champions League final on Aug. 29 in an attempt to bring an end to the season, according to Simon Stone of BBC Sport.
The match was initially scheduled to take place at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on May 30 before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
UEFA has scheduled a meeting for next week where it's understood it will express its desire that all domestic leagues, with some exceptions, finish the 2019-20 campaign at the same time later this summer.
If European leagues agree to complete the season roughly around the same time, UEFA will explore two scenarios to end the Champions League.
The first would be to play matches in July and August and hold the quarterfinals and semifinals over two legs as originally planned. The other option would potentially result in a weeklong mini tournament which would see the quarterfinals and semifinals reduced to one-off fixtures that would be played at the conclusion of the domestic seasons.
The competition was brought to a halt in the round of 16, with four of the eight quarterfinalists left to be decided. Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, and Atletico Madrid qualified for the quarters before play was suspended in March.
Meanwhile, if the proposal is approved, the Europa League will be held in Gdansk, Poland, on Aug. 26.
