Tyson's trainer: He has 'same speed, same power' as 21-year-olds
Mike Tyson is preparing for a possible return to boxing, and according to his trainer, he would have no problem keeping up with opponents half his age.
Rafael Cordeiro, who can be seen in the training video Tyson recently shared, told ESPN's Ariel Helwani he was impressed by what he saw from the 53-year-old former undisputed world heavyweight champion.
"I didn't know what to expect," Cordeiro said Monday. "He hasn't hit mitts for almost 10 years. So I didn't expect to see what I saw. I saw a guy with the same speed, same power as guys 21, 22 years old."
Tyson, who retired from boxing in 2005, revealed on Instagram Live in late April that he's interested in participating in some exhibition bouts for charity. Cordeiro believes Tyson could make a successful comeback within six months.
"It's not a joke," Cordeiro said, promising additional footage of Tyson will be released that shows "more power, more speed, everything."
